Wednesday, April 22 is the deadline to submit applications to department adviser
Ellen Poulter (Simpkins 130).Journalism faculty will review applications on Monday, April 27, and the winner will be announced at the First Annual National Association of Black Journalists/Dameris Bagwell Awards Banquet at Sapphire restaurant, 127 E. Carroll St. in Macomb on Saturday, May 9.
The scholarship is open to WIU journalism majors or minors students who:
• are minorities of at least sophomore standing;
• have a 3.0 GPA in the major or minor or a 2.75 overall GPA;
• are active in at least one professional student organization.
In future years, applicants must submit one letter of recommendation and apply through the department scholarship committee.
